When Should You Be Stocking Up?

As this new year has begun so has the seasons of savings.  Many of you that are newer to couponing might be questioning when you should be stocking up.  Well the answer is–are you ready for it–when the price is right.  I know, I know, pretty vague so I am going to outline the typical seasons for savings.

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
I have gathered the information and put it into a spreadsheet form.  There is  one for fresh fruits and one for fresh vegetables.  Both includes months that they are in season, stock up prices, and how long they last fresh.  They open in Google Docs so you do not even need an office program to view and print them.  They are also customizable, simply remove my stock up price and inset your own.  Or you can eliminate or add fruits and vegetables that I did not include.
Other Seasonable Food and Grocery Items
Here again I’ve gathered the grocery items that don’t necessarily follow the “traditional” sale rotation.  For example, my family uses sports drinks year around but the best sales are found during the summer months.  We also enjoy grill ham and cheese sandwiches in the summer.  But is it stock up cheap in the summer?  Probably Not.  Easter and Christmas is the time to buy.  These are just a few examples of the compiled list.  Again opens in Google Docs.
After the Holidays Sales
I am not just talking Christmas here.  There are clearances after most “commercial” holidays.  Great time to stock up on a variety of things.
Perfume/ Cologne Sets: Xmas, Valentines, Mothers Days, Fathers Day.  Buy them after one holiday and give them for the next.
Scotch Tape/ Scissors/Wrapping Paper: Xmas.  Many times you can find plain colored wrapping paper that can be used for birthdays etc.  Just dress it up with the cheap ribbon that you buy too.
Cellophane Wrapping: Easter.  Not just for wrapping Easter Baskets.  Great for Fruit Baskets and Gift Baskets filled with those items that you get for free.
Candy: Valentines, Xmas, Easter, Halloween.  I do lots of baking from scratch and I don’t see those Halloween clearances like everyone else.  I see Peanut Butter Cookies with Hershey Kisses on Top,  Trail Mix with M&Ms, and Peanut Butter Cheesecake with Reeses PB Cups. Those that eat the treats don’t know what color wrapper they came in. Candy canes are great coffee and hot cocoa stir sticks as well.
Flowers: Valentines & Easter. Now I am not talking about the cut ones here.  I am talking about tulips, lilies and other bulb plants.  They always have an abundance of these at the discount and home improvement store for Valentines and Easter.  Once they are done blooming most people don’t want them…well unless you are a gardener like me.  I have gotten many cheap…I’m saying about $1-2…pots of these.  Just wait till the ground is easy enough to dig and plant them.  Then you have beautiful flowers every spring.
Table Cloths/Paper Plates/Paper Towels and Cups: Xmas, and Summer Holidays. Red isn’t just for Xmas.  Buy the plain red ones and use them for Memorial Day, 4th Of July, Labor Day, Xmas, not to mention B-day Parties.  Many paper towels have seasonal prints.  They just wipe the counters don’t they?
Chinese Take Out Containers: Valentines Day.  I’ve seen these everywhere from dollar stores to craft stores.  So they might have a heart or lips on them, who cares?  They can be used for much more than just Valentines Day.  Cute gift boxes, great for picnics, and arts and crafts for the kids.
Air Fresheners:  Winter Seasonal.  Many winter scents are great year round.  Vanilla, Gingerbread, Cinnamon, etc…
What other deals do you find and stock up during certain times of the year?
