Make Your Own: Fabric Softener

Although I coupon and can often get laundry products very cheap, I rarely can get a deal cheaper than making it myself.  This concoction takes less than 15 minutes from start to clean up.  The final result is about 58 oz of fabric softener.

Ingredients:
6 cups very hot water
2 c. Hair Conditioner (any scent you prefer…just make sure it was cheap) it took me about 11/2 bottles of a 15oz Suave Conditioner bottle.
3 c. white vinegar
Clean containers for storage. (old laundry bottles etc…)
Few drops of complimenting essential oils (if desired)
Measure out 2 cups of the conditioner and put it into a large clean bowl or bucket.  Add 6 cups of hot tap water (rinsing the conditioner bottle out with some of it if you finished a bottle).  Whisk it until all of the conditioner is incorporated.  Add 3 cups of vinegar and again stir until mixed.  Add a few drops of a complimenting essential oil if you prefer a stronger scent on your clean clothes.
Then take a canning jar funnel and ladled the finished fabric softener into the clean laundry containers.
Shake the bottle every now and again to make sure the fabric softener does not separate.  Use as usual in your Downy Ball or Fabric Softener dispenser.

Price Break Down:
1 1/2 bottles of Suave Conditioner:$.59 each so about $.90
Water: FREE!
Vinegar: $.75 probably even less…bought it last summer during the canning season but don't remember how much it was exactly.
So I got 1 1/2 bottles of fabric softener for a total of $1.65!  And it took me less than 15 minutes to get the stuff out, mix it, put it into containers and clean up.  Now that's a deal.
